THE DEATH OF UFOLOGY

One UFO investigator opines on the death of ufology at the hands viral videos and pseudospiritual ramblings - and you know, I think he's right.

That was a thought-provoking post. I had to leave a comment there.

I agree with so much he said. I've seen the rigorous application of logic and skepticism fall to the wayside over the years, little by little. So few UFO sightings are investigated anymore and groups like MUFON have become repositories for tales, like accountants of UFO data.

As were your comments on the sociological aspects of how we view these phenomena. I've expressed before (on this blog and elsewhere) that what's going on in our culture will dictate how we see these things and treat them. And these often follow cycles where things are in and out of vogue.

You, like us, see the good sense that Rutkowski bring to the UFO table.

And ufology is the underpinning of Rutkowski's life, which makes his posting all the more pertinent.

I agree, ufology is becoming like a religion, not a science anymore. People just believe in everything they say.
